A new post, “Lasting Power of Attorney and the COVID Vaccine” has just been published on the Office of the Public Guardian blog.

This update from the OPG addresses some of the questions people may have about what happens if someone does not have mental capacity and is offered a COVID-19 vaccine.

COVID-19 has been the single greatest public health emergency in the history of the NHS. The weeks ahead will be the hardest yet but I really do believe that we are entering the last phase of the struggle.

This blog is for those who either are administering the vaccination or those who have the decision-making authority on behalf of someone who lacks capacity to consent themselves. If you are acting as an Attorney for a family member or friend, you may find this update helpful.
